During her first job, she was awarded as Most Reliable Teacher and Best Lesson Tracker. She is twenty-four years old. At the age of twenty, she got her degree as Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English and got her license as a teacher at the age of twenty-one. As a matter of fact, she is currently taking her masters at Cebu Technological University as Master of Arts in English teaching, because for her a wise person never stops learning.

Getting to Know

1. As a teacher, how do you promote diversity of learners?

For me as an ESL teacher, I really try to respect each culture because teaching in an ESL is more exposed to various cultures. We have of course different cultural aspects of each student to consider, different needs to cater. I promote by encouraging each learner to learn English with fun.

2. What is the difference of teaching in an ESL compared to the regular students we have here in the Philippines?

Teaching ESL students are more into dealing with the language, understanding cultural indifference, and each students' personality so that they can convey their thoughts and feelings in the English language. Whereas in teaching Filipino students, we are into sentence structures like syntax and semantics, literature and all. Also, we have to apply different pedagogies and theories that suits our cultural academic standards and even following the rules and regulations of higher education.

3. Why did you choose to become a teacher?

To be candid I didn't picture myself  becoming a teacher, it's my moms idea to become a teacher because personally when I was young I thought of becoming a military nurse, but due to some reasons my mom told me that becoming a teacher is a very good profession and it even suits me so when I was in my university I took up a degree which is Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English. So when I am already in the field, I started to develop the love of teaching and I started to have that passion to teach. I also learn this mathematical equation in teaching, which is 2 + 2 = 4 meaning, to (2) teach is to (2) touch lives  (4) forever.

4. If you are not a teacher now, what do you think will be your profession?

I think, maybe a beauty queen (laugh), because I ever dreamt of becoming a beauty queen, when I was young I dreamt of having the title as Miss LANAO DEL NORTE because I am from there,  in the Land of Beauty and Bounty, but unfortunately I was not supported by my mom because she told me that becoming a beauty queen is totally different from the real world, so that's why she insisted that becoming a teacher is the best profession that I should have. Indeed, it's true that "mother knows best".

5. How are you going to promote QQ English?

Actually, advertising starts in a small circle. I start with my friends and, on social media because as we all know social media is one of the best means of advertising these days.

6. If someone asks you on how to become an ESL teacher? How will you respond?

Actually, most of my high school friends are mocking me that being an ESL teacher is just an easy job (laugh) but for me, it is not. Being an ESL teacher is a job that challenges you in many different aspects, socially, intellectually. You are not only imparting knowledge but also life teachings that will serve as your students' guide.

7. As a teacher what tips could you give to the students to learn the English language faster?

Constant practice, be patient and make use of the language more often because according to the teaching approach named CALLA or Cognitive Academic Language Learning Approach, it's possible that students are conversationally fluent in two years yet it takes five or seven years more to be considered as fluent in the academic language.

8. If you are the answer what will be the question?

It's from the song "I won't give up" by Jason Marz the line says "How old is your soul?". It reminds me of my fearlessness dealing with life's never-ending battles day by day.
