OFFLINE GENERAL GUIDELINES

1. AVOID FREE CON CLASS. Be reminded to make use of the assigned curriculum.

2. INCREASE STUDENT TALKING TIME. The more teachers speak, the lesser student speaks. Excessive TTT limits the amount of STT and results in teacher-centered lessons, loss of concentration, boredom and limited speaking skills. Teachers are reminded to speak less in class as much as possible.

3. STRICTLY NO CHATTING DURING CLASS HOURS. Teachers are reminded NOT to chat on Skype during class hours unless the teacher has an IMMEDIATE concern.

4. DON'T LET THE STUDENT WAIT FOR YOU. Teachers are reminded to be in their respective classroom two minutes before the class starts.

5. NO LOITERING AND CHITCHATTING OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM. Staying outside the classroom during class hours or while waiting for the student is strictly prohibited. This will disturb teachers and students who are already having classes.

6. NO MERGING OF CLASSES / NO INTERRUPTION OF CLASSES. Merging of classes, be it man-to-man or group classes, is strictly not allowed. Activities that involve the participation of other teachers and students having classes are highly discouraged.

7. STAY INSIDE THE CLASSROOM DURING CLASS HOURS. If the student is absent or the teachers have a vacant slot, teachers are reminded to stay in their respective classroom. No congregating with other teachers in one room/station. Make use of the time preparing for the next class.

8. BE MINDFUL OF SUBSTITUTION CLASSES. For 7th floor teachers, do check Substitution Forums every now and then.
For 10th floor teachers, check the Substitution Monitor. The assigned sub teacher should stay in the MAIN TEACHER'S ROOM/STATION and if the student will not be around on time, the teacher must not roam around but must stay in the classroom and wait for the student for 15 minutes. Students who are late beyond 15 minutes are considered ABSENT.

9. IMPORTANT FORUMS Take note of the ff. important forums
AM ON/OFF FORUM – For AM shift ON/OFF Teachers
PM ON/OFF FORUM – For PM shift ON/OFF Teachers
(7th) Students’ Absences Forum – Teachers whose permanent station is on the 7th floor should post their student’s absences in this forum.
(10th) Students’ Absences Forum – Teachers whose permanent station is on the 10th floor should post their student’s absences in this forum.

10. AVOID TOO MUCH FAMILIARITY WITH STUDENTS. Teachers tend to be lenient in class if they become closer or familiar with their students. Teachers should set boundary towards their students and must maintain professionalism in the classroom. Be firm and religiously follow the assigned curriculum.

11. NO BRINGING/USING OF PHONES. Teachers are reminded to ALWAYS deposit their cellphones to Ms Cherche / Ms Harley. Any teacher caught or reported violating this policy proper sanction shall be issued.

12. START AND END THE CLASS ON TIME. Teachers are reminded to start and end the class on time.

13. AVOID LONG INTRODUCTION. Introducing one's self for more than 3 minutes for the new students or when substituting a class is discouraged. Teachers must proceed to the lesson proper and follow the assigned curriculum RELIGIOUSLY.

14. AVOID DISTRACTING MANNERISM. Some students are distracted with some unconscious mannerism like leg-jiggling, finger-tapping, hair twirling, etc. Avoid or eliminate any superfluous behavior when having classes. Maintain proper decorum inside the classroom.  Also, be cautious of overly friendly gestures; not all students are comfortable with such actions.

15. CURRICULUM CHANGES. Teachers can only use a new curriculum after the management’s approval. Students will file a curriculum change slip at the front desk. The management will decide whether the request is approved or not. After that, a message will be sent to the teacher regarding the status of the request.

16. MAKING ASSESSMENTS. Teachers must always update the assessment file of their student to maintain a continuous flow of the topics and to avoid confusion in cases when substitution is needed.

17. MONITORING STUDENTS’ ABSENCES. We are strictly monitoring the attendance of our students. Teachers have to post students’ absences in the Offline Students’ Absences Forum. 10th floor teachers can use the common Skype for posting the absences.

18. AVAILABILITY OF SCHEDULE. Teachers should not discuss the availability of their schedule to their students. We highly discourage teachers from making special arrangements with their students. If students ask, please refer them to AAO (Heart, Walter and Bangs) or the Offline Schedulers to answer their queries.

19. NO BRINGING OF FOOD AND DRINKS. Teachers are reminded not to bring any foods on their stations. Do not bring QQCafe cups and unlidded containers on your stations to avoid spillage. For 10th floor teachers, they are discouraged to eat food from the cafe during class hours.

20. ACCESSING WEBSITES ON COMPUTERS. Video watching and accessing websites such as, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc. are prohibited.

21. USING OF BOOKS AND COMPUTERS ON THE 10TH FLOOR. Teachers MUST return the books they borrow right after every class because others are also going to use them. Getting all the books they need for the day at the beginning of their offline class hours is strictly prohibited. Handle the books with extra care. The two computers near the QC area are intended only for the teachers’ preparation. Do not bring the students and use the computers during class hours. In addition to that, teachers should be considerate enough not to use the computers for a long time to give way to other teachers.

22. USING OF ELEVATOR. 10th floor teachers who have classes on the 7th floor or need to go to the 8th floor are discouraged to use the elevator. Please use the stairs.

23. ASK PERMISSION FROM THE RIGHT PEOPLE. We cannot eradicate the fact that emergency cases sometimes happen. In such cases, we request teachers to give information to any of the ff. people: COs, LAT , AAO (Heart, Walter and Bangs), Schedulers (Angelique, Herbie and Kaitlyn ), Front Desk Cherche  and Harley) regarding their whereabouts (e.g. go to the 8th floor, 9th floor), condition (e.g. health matters), plans to go under time and the like especially during working hours. This is to avoid missed classes and the inconvenience it may cause to the affected students.

24. ENGLISH ONLY POLICY. As teachers we should serve as role models to our students who are here to hone their English skills. Teachers are encouraged to speak in English at all times.

25. WEEKLY CLASS PERFORMANCE REPORTS . Always complete the weekly class performance reports every Thursday before shift ends for AM and after 5pm for PM shift.
